Set in the middle of a 2,600 acre nature preserve and surrounded by Appalachian Mountains, rustic and historic Mountain Lake Lodge is the ultimate retreat. Breathe in crisp, fresh air, dine on gourmet fare and build family memories with fun indoor and outdoor activities.

The lodge is famous for being where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed. Today, guests can go on an in-depth self-guided tour through 11 original locations from the movie.

Due to the elevation of Mountain Lake Lodge, the temperatures are consistently 10-15 degrees cooler than the temperatures at the bottom of the mountain (Blacksburg/Roanoke). The resort almost always enjoys a cool breeze during the day and cool, yet crisp evenings. The resort has maintained its historical integrity and does not have air conditioning in any of the main buildings or accommodations. Mountain Lake Lodge is a natural setting and many of the guests are very comfortable with simply opening their guest room windows in the evenings if they enjoy a cooler temperature for sleeping.

Mountain Lake Lodge is located in the New River Valley of the Appalachian Mountains in southwest Virginia, about 1 hour east of Roanoke, VA, and 3 hours north of Charlotte, NC.
